The team
Alberto Trombetta Ph.D. (Head of Venture Capital)


Alberto is in charge of the venture capital activities of the firm, with particular emphasis on the management of NEXT, a fund of funds and co-investiment fund dedicated to investments in technology start-ups.
Alberto gained over 18 years of experience in technology, first as a researcher and later as a consultant and venture capitalist. Before joining Finlombarda Gestioni SGR Alberto was head of venture capital at Cofiri, a financial company now part of UniCredit Group. His main investment activities were in tech sectors such as IT, materials sciences, biotechnology and environmental technologies. Prior to Cofiri Alberto gained international experience with strategy and technology consulting firms in London (A.T. Kearney, KPMG and LogicaCMG). Alberto began his career in biomedical research and earned a Ph.D. in Biophysics at King’s College London. Alberto graduated in Physics at the University of Pavia. Alberto is a member of the board of HT and TOP and member of the advisory board of Principia and TLcom II.

Cristina Bini (Senior Associate)


Cristina collaborates in the selection, assessment and negotiation of investment opportunities for the NEXT fund and in managing its portfolio.
Cristina has a 10 years experience in venture capital and in the investment, monitoring and sale of shareholdings in high tech firms. Before joining Finlombarda Gestioni SGR, Cristina spent several years at Pino Venture Partners, the advisor to Kiwi venture capital funds (over Euro 600 M), with direct involvement in the ICT and Internet portfolio. In 2004 Cristina collaborated with SIRMI S.p.A., dealing with strategic consulting and market research in the Italian ICT sector. Cristina graduated in Business Administration from Bocconi University of Milan and she is lecturer with universities and venture capital events.

Giorgio Minola (Investment Manager)


Giorgio is the investment manager of EUROMED Fund, dedicated to investing in the Mediterranean rim. Before joining Finlombarda Gestioni SGR, Giorgio Minola gained over six years' experience in venture capital in the telecommunications division of Pino Venture Partners, advisor to Kiwi venture €600M). Prior to this he worked for the strategy and technology consultant Arthur D. Little, where he held strategic and corporate finance positions in the telecommunications, energy, transport and pharmaceuticals sectors.

Stefano Frattini (Investment Manager)


Stefano Frattini co-manages the investments of EUROMED Fund.
Previously, Stefano worked in corporate finance and institutional equity research in London, Milan and Paris. Within corporate finance, he’s worked with French Bank Société Générale on listing companies on the European Stock Exchanges (among other things, he was execution co-ordinator for the listing of Fiera Milano on the Milan Stock Exchange) and with Intermonte where he carried out the listing of several technology companies such as Dada, Data Service, Fastweb, Olidata and TXT e-solutions, as well as evaluation of pre-IPO investments and structuring of derivative products. Earlier, Stefano was a financial analyst at Intermonte, Merrill Lynch and Smith New Court in London.

Simona Corno (Junior Analyst)


Simona supports the Investment Managers of EUROMED in researching, analysing, negotiating and managing of investments in the Mediterranean area.
Simona graduated in Economics from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan with a thesis titled “Venture Capital in Emerging Markets: the Jordanian Case”. Before joining the EUROMED fund team, Simona collected experiences directly in the fund’s target countries at UNIDO/IPU (Investment Promotion Unit): namely 6 months of internship in Jordan (Amman) and 4 months of fellowship in Tunisia (Tunis), where she studied the risk capital development in those countries and more in general in the Mediterranean region.

Alessandro Luraghi (Junior Analyst)

Alessandro supports the Investment Manager of NEXT in researching and analysing potential investment opportunities. Before joining the team, Alessandro worked for Fondamenta SGR, an Italian management company focused on private equity and venture capital, where he matured his experience as junior analyst in the following funds: Fondamenta Uno (fund of funds) and Futura Invest (investment company specialized in private equity’s funds, unlisted enterprises and management companies). Alessandro graduated in finance at Libero Istituto Universitario Carlo Cattaneo (“LIUC”) of Castellanza (Va) in 2008 with a thesis on private equity activity in the shipyard sector.

Massimo Beraglia


Massimo is in charge of administration at Finlombarda Gestioni SGR. He has gained several years of experience in the financial sector, with accounting and administration roles. Prior to Finlombarda Gestioni SGR SpA, he worked for Banca IMI as chief accountant for foreign brokers of securities and derivatives. Massimo holds a degree in Economics and Business from the University of Salerno and a Master in Local Development Management from LIUC in Castellanza (VA).
