EUROMED is an Italian private equity fund aimed at backing the start-up or the expansion of the operations of Italian or local companies in the Euro-Mediterranean area. Euromed is the first European private equity Fund dedicated to investments in North Africa. The Fund raised € 50 million.
EUROMED will invest mainly in the equity of joint ventures between Italian and local companies.
The Fund focuses on investment opportunities located in the following Mediterranean countries: Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia. The vicinity of these countries to Europe is regarded as an excellent international development opportunity for Italian small and medium enterprises.
A private equity fund - which invests jointly with the entrepreneur and shares the business risks – allows the promoters to reduce the funding needed for the new investment.
EUROMED aims to be the reference partner to support entrepreneurs with a project to start-up or expand their activities in a Mediterranean country, sharing the enterprise risk and contributing not only with financial know-how and resources, but also with logistic support in the foreign country for the set-up and start-up phases, and with a network of contacts, through its local advisors, to enhance the visibility of the venture.
EUROMED is a financial partner highly motivated to contribute to the international expansion (in the Mediterranean area) of the participated companies. The investment team participates proactively, but discreetly, in the management of the company through its representatives sitting on the board of directors, who can be experienced members of the investment committee or of the advisory board, including the local Advisors.
Value creation is definitely a major objective, as EUROMED aims at supporting long-lasting enterprises that will prosper after the fund has exited.
