The NEXT Fund strategies
The NEXT Fund (€37M) operates both as a fund of funds and as a co-investment fund and can therefore either invest in other closed-ended venture capital funds or make direct investments in companies in partnership with other entities.
Investments in companies
NEXT makes direct investments in companies that satisfy the following conditions:
- they are SMEs;
- they have registered offices and operations within the Region of Lombardy;
- they are start-ups or early-stage businesses in the initial phases of their life cycle (e.g.: beginning R&D or commencement of production/commercial activity);
- they operate in innovative sectors with a high tech content.
Investments in companies in crisis are excluded.
Investments in venture capital funds
NEXT invests in Italian or foreign venture capital funds dedicated to early stage tech companies on condition that:
- the fund formally undertakes to invest at least twice the sum invested by NEXT in Lombardy companies which possess the above characteristics, thus creating a multiplier effect.
